This Is A Rare Gold And Citrine Ring Sold By Sotheby’s Geneva May 11, 1989 – Objets de Vitrine from the Collection Of Mrs. George Keppel (1869-1947). Mrs. Keppel Was A Mistress Of King Edward VII. This Was One Of The Two Rings In Lot #56.
A very elegant, totally original antique eyeglass – very wearable ! CONDITION : All original and very good. See below for further details.
In unusual, solid 15 karat gold, the ring is gorgeously made – with ornate scrolled fretwork to its smartly tapered shoulders, the millegrain underbezel continuing all the way around – this lifts it off the finger, enhancing its prominence and completing its fancy halo of gold, creating a perfect contrast between the bright yellow of the gold and the bewitching, characterful blue of the stone.
It opens, and has a whistle inside.
This wonderful plaited gold ribbon twisted with flexible cabling and brought back from a Grand Tour in the Victorian period is fastened with a solid 9 karat gold cuff. It’s a lovely quality, suprisingly light and easy to wear piece that’s historic, fascinating and beautiful as well.
This is an antique etched sweetheart brooch, with a swallow, a rose and an ivy leaf, all popular motifs in Victorian-era jewelry. The back of the pin is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1900 and retains its original c clasp and pin.
Both shoulders show a join – this is probably how it was made rather than a later alteration.
A special little piece in good condition, with a couple little dents (see photo) stamped.
Artone Yellow Rose Brooch. • Marked “Artone / Bone China / Made in England.”. Artone Mixed Posy Brooch. • Also stamped “Artone / Bone China / Made in England.”. • Slightly fuller, more colorful bouquet form typical of later Artone designs.
A fantastic quality early Victorian mourning ring, in solid 15 carat gold and unusually with scrolled castellations around its entire circumference. The gently tapering band is fabulously thick quality, deep and reassuringly weighty, and the channel between the edging is empty – it would have originally held a woven hair memento, this is long gone.My favourite part of this piece is the ring’s head – a scrolling banner device in 3d that jumps out at you, that’s simultaneously like a fish and like an eternity symbol. It may have originally been engraved with someone’s initials. The inner band is engraved with the initials ‘ESR’ and it’s in wonderful original condition for its age, showing only light wear to high points. It dates to around 1840 and is a size 5.25, not resizeable. It weighs 2.9 grams and measures 6 mm across the head. All my items are guaranteed 100% as described or your money back, so buy with confidence!
